SWATANTARA: Students Working Against Tobacco, Alcohol, Narcotics and Related Abuses; an initiative of the Consulate General of India, conducted Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on Friday, October 6th at the Consulate General of India, Dubai auditorium. The Consul General of India Shri Vipul was the chief guest.

Signatures, a musical group of doctors, entertained the crowd with Gandhi Bhajans and songs in various Indian languages. Dr T.C Satish, gave a brief summary about Swatantara and also spoke about Tobacco- the number one killer. Dr Ajith Tharakan spoke on Alcohol abuse and its dangers.

Prizes for the slogan writing and jingles contest for students from all over UAE were awarded on Friday 6th October 2017. The competition had received many entries of slogans and jingles spreading awareness about the ill effects of tobacco, alcohol and drugs from numerous schools in the UAE.
